TMB Avenger VC-14 on Hoggatt Bay CVE 75 - June 16 1944

Taken from the island of the escort carrier Hoggatt Bay (CVE 75) sixty-six years ago today- June 16, 1944- flight deck personnel begin the process of clearing the deck of a TBM Avenger of Composite Squadron (VC) 14 that crashed on landing. Note the bombs painted beneath the cockpit denoting combat missions on which the airplane flew.
