ALEUT MEMORIAL

Closeup of the 50th Anniversary Memorial of the internment of Aleuts during World War II. The memorial, which honors all those Aleuts who died in WWII interment camps and who have died since, is located in the yard of Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church on St. Paul Island, AK.

"On Tuesday, June 16, 1942 the Aleuts from St. Paul Island were evacuated to Funter Bay, Alaska during World War II.

This 50th Anniversary Memorial of the Internment of the Aleuts is in memory of those who died in Funter Bay and Juneau, Alaska between 1942-1944 and who have died since."
